Born in 1955, he graduated at the Medical School in 1979, becoming a specialist in diagnostic radiology and oncologic radiotherapy. He is Full Professor of “diagnostic for images and radiotherapy” at the University of Palermo. He published more than 450 scientific papers.

He founded the political movement Idea Sicilia, and he is currently a deputy at the Assembly of Sicily, elected in the political list “Idea Sicilia Popolari e Autonomisti”. 

He is an Honorary Citizen of Agrigento and Racalmuto. He was Board Member of the Italian Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) and Director of the Department of Radiological Sciences at the Hospital of Palermo.

He was also Regional Councilor for Health during the XIV Legislature (2006-2008).
