He is Chairman and CEO of Samer & Co. Shipping SpA, one of the main Italian logistics operators based in Trieste and, through a series of subsidiaries, in south-eastern Europe. The company, established in 1919, operates as a maritime agent and broker, port terminal operator, international shipping house and average commissioner, and has been an agent of Lloyd’s of London since 1932.
Since 1987, it has managed the “Motorway of the Sea” that connects Europe to Turkey via the Port of Trieste through an intermodal model that uses maritime, road, rail and air transport, with a total movement of over 350,000 heavy vehicles and more than 5 million tons of goods per year.
Since 1998, he has held the role of Honorary Consul General of Turkey and was Dean of the Consular Corps of Trieste from 2004 to 2013.
On 2 June 2024 he was awarded the honorary distinction of “Cavaliere del Lavoro” by the President of the Republic.
